WEST INDIAN GIRL CA (NeoPsych) REAL
Johnny Loftus's boorish AllMusic.com review of West Indian Girl reads as if jaded with jealousy, or something ... Definitely something more going on than a simple review that's for sure! I'd rate the album atleast a 3 (out of 5). Though not an original sound, really tight for a duo, feels good not too engaging. Good for relaxing or snuggling'. Me likey!

PATRIOT GAMES

Sen. Russ Feingold's Fight for Liberty at Home

PATRIOT GAMES: Sen. Russ Feingold’s Fight for Liberty at Home was first published in the debut issue of ThePRESS, Milwaukee's News and Arts Monthly, in February of 2002, four months after the Wisconsin senator cast the lone U.S. Senate vote in opposition to the USA Patriot Act. At the time, an interview with Feingold was an irresistible way to introduce to readers an independent monthly with a progressive political bent. Media in Feingold's home state, while reporting the passage of the act and his vote, had proven unable and unwilling in the wake of 9-11 to present ample coverage of his side of the story. As the senator goes before Wisconsin voters in this election, seeking a third term in office, there seems no better time to republish both the interview and the accompanying selections from the Veteran's Day speech he gave at the University of Michigan, Nov. 11, 2001. The civil liberties lessons of the War on Terrorism have done little but add merit to Feingold's concerns: they are as pressing today as they were when USA Patriot was fast-tracked through Congress. .: read :. |

09.08.05 - As we begin to reap the year's bounty for our labours, we feel both overwhelmed & relieved. Every morningof latethe winds of change have cooled our hunting grounds and covered them in dew. Small creatures are showing up at the stoop in quantities. Be advised: brother Choosey work is not tallied here.
09.01.05 - The air was thicker than molasses all summer, running was not an option. Guido didn't do much more than seek shady places, cool spots in the basement and pester a woodchuck during his sixth hunting season. As it cools down, his numbers have been going up. But frankly, he has lost interest in small creatures (confidentially, he thinks they are dumb). They don't really taste good and are the cause of many stomach aches, that require rubbing. And, when he does decide to play *exploratory surgeon* and cut them open for brain exams, he just can't seem to get them back together and they become boring. They never seem to want to play chase after that game either. He has given up bringing them in for the people to enjoy, finally. I don't know if my heart could handle many more seasons of that ... And, just a side note: baby brother Chooey has caught his first 3 birds this year.
05.18.05 - Okay -- spring is here -- let the games begin!

Etymologically Speaking -- I Vocabularian!

.:: By Lori Lowling ::. l 05.18.05
Warning -- neologisms are infectious! Yesterday the Boston Herald was handed to me, folded open to page 16. I was told that there may be something of interest to me in the top left corner of the spread. In a 3-inch long column headed "Word news confuzzles lingweenies", I found two of MY words in print. The blurb mentions Merriam-Webster dictionary's recent request for website visitors to submit their favorite words that aren't in the dictionary (my favorite site). The Herald cites the top word being "ginormous" (jy-NOHR'-mus) (adj): very large, combination of gigantic & enormous: "I have a ginormous headache." -- THIS IS MY WORD! I invented this word in 1997, as well as it's cohort, another word not in the dictionary (or on the list): "hunormous" (hu-NOHR'-mus) (adj): Larger than huge and enormous. .: read :.

Woohoo, after so many years of hatin' and bashing, I am watching my pencil lay down an argument to turn on that shit box. I [not easily impressed or amused when sober] am interested in more than one show on TV?? Good shows exist & they have perchance been the cause of chortle and snorts.
Am I growing old? DID I GO INSANE last year? Have my particals been rearranged and replaced with a semblance of the old me? What is causing this? A writers strike!? A down economy!? Who the fuck cares? All that is for sure, that it was. It was last year and it may again be this year... And, even if it doesn't, or isn't, it was! It was and I wrote this to admit that it was! Don't say I never admit when I am wrong, cuz I do. I do and I did. Was good.
CONFESSION: I actually requested an entire season of episodes, cleverly squished onto DVD, via my local public library. I watched religiously - a TV show - I did! That was a luxury. I don't have that channel anyhow.
Tolerate the loud noises & disturbing images between scenes for the following reasons; Significant Others [BRAVO], Arrested Development [FOX], Curb Your Enthusiasm [HBO], The Apprentice [NBC], and Gilmore Girls [WB].

Milwaukee’s The Saltshakers are: Chad Curtis (guitar), Seth Jamieson (bass), Jon Strelecki (drums) and Tim Peck (guitar).
Their latest release A Beautiful Mess has a really nice sound. Very original, yet very Milwaukee. It's a keeper! - Lori Lowling TheOrganism
The following is the result of an interview with guitarist/songwriter Chad Curtis of Milwaukee’s The Saltshakers’s:
TheOrganism: What do The Saltshakers sound like?
Curtis: I’d like to think we have our own thing going, but we’re told by a lot of people that they hear the Replacements/Pixies influences. I just try to write honest music. We don’t put too much thought into whether we sound like someone else or not. We just want to write good songs that people will remember and enjoy.
When I am forced to give an answer I like to list the ultra-vague genres of power pop, rock ‘n’ roll, garage rock or pop rock. I write pop songs with balls and energy. I write pop songs with energetic balls. .: read :.
